Be bound to + V1

Bu yapı bir olayın gelecekte olmasının kaçınılmaz olduğunu vurgulamak için kullanılır.

· Even though it is raining hard, the service bus is bound to come.
· It is five o’clock. The coach is bound to come.
· The clouds are dark. It is bound to rain soon.

Be due to + V1

Bu yapı "-ecek / -acak" anlamına gelir ve gelecekte yapılması önceden planlanmış eylemleri ifade etmek için kullanılır.

· We are due to leave quite soon as the rains in Kemer have already started.
· The next flight to Paris is due to arrive at 4 o'clock.

Be expected to + V1

“..............olması bekleniyor” anlamına gelen bir ifadedir.

· They are expected to make an announcement about the date of final exams later on today.
· She is expected to have a baby soon these days

Happen to + V1

Bir olayın “şans eseri / tesadüfen” olacağını ifade etmek için kullanılır.

· If you happen to meet him today, please tell him my regards.
· I happened to see her on my way to work.
· We happened to see an accident on way to home

Be likely to + V1 / Be unlikely to + V1

“..........olması olası”, “..........olması olası değil” anlamına gelen bu ifadeler "may" "might" yerine bir olayın olma olasılığının kesin olmadığı durumlarda kullanılırlar.

· Acording to recent polls, they are likely to lose the election.
· He is unlikely to arrive late. He knows how important this meeting is.
· They are likely to get married. They have been dating for a long time.

Olasılık ifade eden sorularda may/might yerine "be likely to" yapısı kullanılır.

· Are they likely to lose this match?
· Is he likely to come tomorrow?

May as well / Might (just) as well + Do something

“may / might” modal'lanndan sonra “as well” Kullanıldığında “.......yapabiliriz çünkü yapacak daha iyibirşey yok ya da....... Yapmamamız için bir neden yok” anlamı ortaya çıkar.

· We may as well sit at home and watch our new CDs if you want.
· We might as well go out for dinner. The weather is very nice.
· A: what shall we do? Shall we walk?
  B: we may / might (just) as well walk. It's a nice day and ı don't want to wait here in the queue.
· He may as well come with me. (benimle gelse ya.)

Seem / Appear to + V1

“........ Gibi görünmek” anlamına gelen bu fiiller bir olayın olduğuna/olacağına dair bir kanı uyanmasını ifade ederler.

· The boys seem to fight very soon considering their tough manner.
· The cat seems to want something to drink.
· Look at make’s face. He appears to have been sitting there all day.

Be Reluctant to + V1

“............yapmaya gönülsüzüm” anlamına gelir.

· As my husband was tired, he was extremely reluctant to help us for the housework
· She is reluctant to be volunteer to charity organization.

Be willing to + V1 / Be unwilling to + V1

“...........istekli olmak”/ “.........isteksiz olmak” anlamına gelirler.

· We are willing to have a new application for the working hours.
· If the management is willing to talk to us, the meeting can be held today.
· The boss was unwilling to make another pay rise for this year.
· They are unwilling to make further practice since they get tired

“Niçin.... yapmadın?” anlamı ile geçmişe yönelik eleştiride kullanılır.

· Why didn't you call your family last week?

Could have + at least +V3

Een azından... yapabilirdin” anlamına gelen bu yapı da geçmişe ait herhangi bir konuda eleştiri yaparken kullanılır.

· You could have at least telephoned me last night to let me know you wouldn’t come.
· He could have at least make an apology after shouting at me in front of so many people.
