MODAL PASSIVE SIMPLE

Kip (modal) kullanılarak ifade edilmiş bir cümle edilgen (passive) yapılırken, etken (active) cümlenin nesnesi, edilgen (passive) cümlede özne olarak kullanılır ve “BE” ifade edilen kipe eklenir, ve fiilin 3. hali Past Participle kullanılır.

Can be +V3

· Hank can’t buy this type of car. It is very expensive. (active)
  This type of car can’t be bought by Hank. It is very expensive. (passive)

· It's impossible! No one can steal the money. No one has been in here except us. (active)
  It's impossible! The money can't be stolen. No one has been in here except us. (passive)

May be + V3

· Michael may invite some of her school mates to her wedding. (active)
  Some of Michael’s school mates may be invited to her wedding. (passive)

· Next month, they may perform the opera 'The Mikado" at the Art Centre. (active)
  Next month, the opera 'The Mikado" may be performed at the Art Centre. (passive)

Should be + V3 / Ought to be +V3

· Someone should warn children about the dangers of playing with matches. (active)
  Children should be warned about the dangers of playing with matches. (passive)

· Someone ought to report the accident to the police.
  The accident ought to be reported to the police.

Must be +V3

· The government must announce the rate of taxes before. (active)
  The rate of taxes must be announced the government before. (passive)

· It must hurt a lot of people in that train crash. It looked fairly serious. (active)
  A lot of people must be hurt in that train crash. It looked fairly serious. (passive)

Have to be + V3

· They have to check all the passengers thoroughly before getting on the plane. (active)
  All the passengers have to be thoroughly checked before getting on the plane. (passive)

Be supposed to be +V+

· None of my friends supposed me to overcome these difficulties. (active)
  I wasn’t supposed to overcome these difficulties. (passive)

· We suppose you to handle your term paper this week. (active)
  You are supposed to handle your term paper this week. (passive)

Had better be + V3

· You had better invite him as well. Otherwise, you won’t be able to escape from his constant complains

MODAL PERFECT PASSIVE

Etken bir cümlede kiplerin perfect yapısı kullanılmış ise bu tür bir cümlenin edilgen (passive) yapısı, etken (active) cümlenin nesnesi, edilgen (passive) cümlede özne olarak kullanılır ve “BEEN” ifade edilen kipe eklenir, ve fiilin 3. hali yani Past Participle hali ile kullanılır.

Can have been +V3 / Could have been +V+

· The workers can have finished the installation of the pipe by now as it is the easiest part of the project.
  The installation of the pipe can have been finished by the workers by now as it is the easiest part of the project.

· You couldn’t have accused of him stealing your money yesterday. He was with me all through the day.
  He couldn’t have been accused of stealing your money yesterday. He was with me all through the day.

· Nobody could have seen Jammy with her friend as she was not in the town. (active)
  Jammy couldn’t have been seen by anybody as she was not in the town. (passive)

May / might have been +V3

· They may have seen her with an old man as she likes to be with old an rich people. (active)
  She might have been seen with an old man as she likes to be with old an rich people. (passive)

· They might have invited some of the old ladies to join the party in order to make a four for the gambling.
  Some of the old ladies might have been invited to join the party in order to make a four for the gambling.

Must have been + V3

· Tom’s father must have bought this car. He can’t afford buying such an expensive one.
  This car must have been bought by Tom’s father. He can’t afford buying such an expensive one.

· We must have done something wrong, so decided to repeat the experiment.
  Something wrong must have been done by us, so decided to repeat the experiment.

Should have been + V3 / Ought to have been +V3

· You shouldn’t have blamed him for stealing your Money last night if you are not really sure. (active)
  He shouldn’t have been blamed for stealing your Money last night if you are not really sure. (passive)

· Their teachers should have encouraged students because of their project last year.
  Students should have been encouraged because of their project last year.

· You ought to have supported your brother financially last year. He can’ pay his dept now.
