Too, Either, Neither, So, Nor, Also ve As well

İngilizce bir cümlelerde ben de, sen de, o da, biz de gibi anlamlar ifade etmek için kullandığımız yapılar vardır. Bu ekleme ifadeleri farklı yapılarda karşımıza çıkar.

Too / So

Olumlu cümlelerde ifade edilen görüşlere yapılan olumlu eklemelerde "özne + yardımcı fiil + too" kullanılır.

Paul likes golf and Tom likes golf (too).
(Paul golf sever, Tom da golf sever.)
Paul likes golf and Tom does, too.
(Paul golf sever, Tom da.)
The boys cheated! / The girls did, too!
(Erkekler hile yaptı! Kızlar da!)
They need some food. They need some money, too.
(Onların yiyeceğe ihtiyacı var. Biraz paraya da ihtiyaçları var.)

"So" cümleyi devrik yaparak "so + yardımcı fiil + özne" şeklinde kullanılır.

I'm having a tooth out tomorrow. / So am I!
(Yarın bir dişimi çektiriyorum. / Ben de!)
Paul likes golf and so does Tom.
(Paul golf sever, Tom da.)
She generally decides in a short time. So do I.
(O genellikle kısa zamanda karar verir. Ben de.)
The students are waiting in the garden. So are the teachers.
(Öğrenciler bahçede bekliyor. Öğretmenler de.)

Either / Neither / Nor

Olumsuz cümle ile ifade edilen görüşlere yapılan olumsuz eklemeler ifade etmek için kullanılır. Bu eklemeler "özne + olumsuz yardımcı fiil + either" şeklinde de yapılabilir.

He didn’t like the book; I didn’t either.
(O kitabı beğenmedi; ben de.)
They don’t mind the noise; we don’t either.
(Onlar gürültüye aldırmıyorlar; biz de.)
He can’t speak Spanish. I can’t speak, either.
(O İspanyolca konuşamıyor. Ben de.)

"Neither / Nor" ile yapılanan olumsuz eklemelerde cümle devrik olarak "neither / nor+ yardımcı fiil + özne" biçiminde kullanılır.

Angela hasn’t any spare time. Neither / Nor have I.
(Angela’nın hiç boş zamanı yok. Benim de.)
I didn’t get much sleep last. Neither / Nor did I.
(Dün gece pek uyuyamadım. Ben de.)
Steve never goes to concerts, neither / nor does his wife.
(Steve konserlere hiç gitmez, karısı da.)
The new student could not understand the topic. Neither could the other students.

My brother can't read Arabic, and I can't read Arabic (either).

Also

'Also' özneden sonra veya yardımcı fiilden sonra gelir.

I am also coming with you. (Ben de seninle geliyorum.)
She also helped us. (O da bize yardım etti.)

Ancak 'also', verilecek yeni bir bilgiye vurgu yapmak için cümle başına gelebilir:

It’s a nice house, but it’s very small. Also, it needs a lot of repairs.
(Güzel bir ev ama çok küçük. Aynı zamanda çok da tamir gerektiriyor.)

As well

'As well' genel olarak cümle sonunda kullanılır. Amerikan İngilizcesinde pek yaygın değildir:

I have some experience in that area as well.
(O alanda da biraz tecrübem var.)
It sounds like you have class on Saturdays as well.
(Görünüşe göre cumartesi günleri de dersin var.)
I am planning to visit Kyoto, and Nara as well.
(Kyoto ziyaret etmeyi planlıyorum ve Nara'yı da.)

May / Might as well

Bari, hiç olmazsa, hiç değilse, o halde, öyleyse anlamlarına gelen bir kalıptır.

We might as well stay here until it stops hailing.
(Dolu yağması durana kadar bari burada kalalım / burada kalsak iyi olur.)
There’s nothing to do, so I may as well watch television.
(Yapacak bir şey yok, o halde ben de televizyon izleyebilirim.)
