MODALS (Kipler)
Introduction (Giriş)
Bir dil daima zaman ifadeleri kullanılarak, yada soru sorup cevap alarak düşüncenin karşılklı alış-verişini sağlayamaz. Bazen teklif, öneri, rica, dilek, yada niyetimizi ifade eden cümleler kullanırız, Bazan kibar olmak, zorunluluk ifade etmek, olasılıkları söylemek, bazen de taktik kullanmak isteriz. İşte bu durumları ifade edebilecek cümle yapılarını kullanmak için de KİPLER (Modals) kullanılır. İngilizce’de kipler Auxiliary verbs ve Semi-modals / Phrasal modals olarak iki gruba ayırılır.
MODAL AUXILIARIES

Bu tür kipler cümlede yardımcı fill işlevi görürler, Yani cümlenin olumlu, olumsuz, yada
soru yapılarında bu kiplerin kendileri kullanılır. Bunlar:

SEMI-MODALS / PHARASAL MODALS
Bu tür kipler cümlede hem fill / yüklem hemde yardımcı fill işlevi görürler. Bir cümlenin olumlu, olumsuz, yada soru yapılarını, onay sorularını (tag questions) oluştururken bu kiplerin ya kendilerini yada bu cümlelere ait bir zaman kullanılıyorsa, bu zamanlara ait yardımcı filleri kullanır.
