FUTURE CONTINUOUS

INTRODUCTION (Giriş)
“The Future Continuous” gelecekte belirli bir zamanda devam edecek ya da normal olarak yapılması beklenilen eylemleri dile getirmek için kullanılır. Her nekadar gerçek anlamın bir ölçüde kaybolması söz konusu ise de, bazen bu cümleler “The Simple Future” ile de dile getirilir. Bu türlü söz dizilerinde kullanılan Zaman Zarfları (adverbs of time) ya açıkça belirtilir ya da konuşmalardan kolayca anlaşılır.

• I will be watching television at ten o'clock. Don’t call me then

     (Saat onda televizyon seyrediyor olacağım. Beni o saate arama.)

• At this time tomorrow the bus will be passing through the forest. 

      (Yarın bu zamanlarda otobüs ormandan geçiyor olacak.)

More examples:

• I envy you, Jane! This time next week you will be sunbathing in Antalya.
• Will you be having your dinner at eight o'clock this evening?
• What will you be doing at this time tomorrow?
• I shall be doing my homework at this time tomorrow.
• If you have been appointed to this ship, you will be working under my brother.

Bu tense ile dile getirilen bir eylemin ne zaman yapıldığını gösteren Yan Cümleciklerde (subordinate clause) "The Simple Present" kullanılır. Ana Cümlecik ve Yan Cümlecik aşağıdaki bağlaçlarla (conjunctions) birbirlerine bağlanırlar:

when	by the time	as (so) long as
while	as	this time tomorrow
this time next week / next year / next month / etc.

• Everyone will be walking to work next week when the bus drivers are on strike.

      (Otobüs şoförleri grevde oldukları zaman gelecek hafta herkes işe yürüyerek gidecek.)

• The farmers will be working in the fields by the time we arrive at the village.

      (Biz köye varmadan önce çiftçiler tarlalarda çalışıyor olacaklar.)

• I will be working in the garden when my father comes home.
• When I get back, they will be having dinner.
• When we reach istanbul, it will probably be raining.

USAGE (Kullanışı)
“The Future Continuous” gelecekte kuvvetli bir olasılıkla olacağını düşündüğümüz eylemleri dile getirmek için kullanılır.

• Tomorrow is Saturday, so Mary will be going to the cinema.
• Robert's leg is better now, so he will be playing football on Saturday as usual.
• My father will be going to work after breakfast.
• They will be going to Antalya for their summer holidays as usual.
• I will be seeng Mike at the office. Would you like me givr him your massage?

“The Future Continuous” gelecekte belirli bir süre içinde devam edecek eylemleri dile getirmek için kullanılır. Bu türlü söz dizilerinde dile getirilen bu eylemlerin ne zaman yapıldığını gösteren Yan Cümleciklerde (subordinate clause) “The Simple Present” ya da “The Present Continuous” kullanılır.

• I will studying for my final exams while you are swimming in the sea.
• My mother Ayşegül will be cleaning the house all day long tomorrow.
• “I will be loving you eternally”. Said Tommy to Sally.
• Martin be working on his uncle’s farm all through the summer.
• I shall be living in Turkey as long as I live.
• They will be spending their honeymoon while we are working in the factory.
• George will be working away from home all next week.

“The Future Continuous” belirli bir süre bitmeden daha önce başlayacak ve bu süre bittikten sonra da muhtemelen devam edecek eylemleri göstermek için kullanılır:

• You will be speaking English perfectly within six months.

      (Altı ay içinde İngilizceyi mükemmel bir şekilde konuşuyor olacaksın.)

Yukarıdaki cümle benim altı ay bitmeden İngilizce’yi mükemmel bir şekilde konuşmaya başlayacağımı ve bu süre bittikten sonra da bu şekilde konuşmaya devam edeceğimi gösterir.

• I shall be running my own business within three years.

      (Üç yıl içinde kendi işimi idare ediyor olacağım.)

• Don’t worry madam. Your son will be walking again within six weeks.

      (Endişelenmeyin bayan. Oğlunuz altı hafta içinde tekrar yürüyor olacak. (yürüyecek).)

“The Future Continuous” bir kimsenin gelecekte yapmasını normal olarak beklediğimiz bir işi yapıp yapmayacağını anlamak için soru cümlelerinde kullanılır ve alacağımız yanıta göre kendisine düşündüğümüz bazı şeyleri söyler ya da bir istekte bulunabiliriz. Bu durumda soru cümleleri “Shall you/Will you” ile başlar:

• A: Shall (will) you be going to the post office this afternoon?

      B: Yes, I shall be going to the post-office this afternoon.
      A: Then, will you please buy me some stamps?

• A: Shall (will) you be staying in Sweden for long?

      B: Yes, I shall be staying in Sweden for a long time.
      C: Then you must take your woollen clothes with you.

• Will you be coming to see us soon?
• Will you be discussing this problem with her?
• How much money will you be taking with you?
• Where will you be staying in Paris?

“The Future Continuous” bir emir cümlesini kibar bir şekilde dile getirmek için rica cümlesine dönüştürürken kullanılır. Bu durumda rica cümleleri daima “Will you...” ile başlar:

• Go to the Post Office after lunch.

      Will you be going to the Post Office after lunch?

• Type this letter for me, please

      Will you be typing this letter for me?

• Please, sing this song again

      Will you be singing this song once again?

“The Future Continuous” gelecekte yapılması kararlaştırılmış ya da planlanmış eylemleri dile getirmek için kullanılır. Bu yapısı ile “be going to” ya benzer.

• I shall be seeing my girl friend at the club this afternoon.
• After the meal we are having coffee, and then we shall be playing tennis.
• Lora is ironing the shirts first, and then she will be ironing the handkerchiefs.
• After the preparations have been completed, the scientists will be launching the Shuttle into the space.

“The Future Continuous” konuşma sırasında olan eylemlerle ilgili bir varsayımı, tahmini dile getirmek için kullanılır:

• Mr Bronson will be getting out of the house now.

      (Bay Bronson şimdi evden dışarı çıkıyor olacak (çıkıyordur).)

Yukarıdaki cümleyi şu şekilde de dile getirebiliriz:

• I expect Mr Bronson is getting out of the house now.

      (Zannedersem Bay Bronson şimdi evden dışarı çıkıyordur.

More examples:

• It will be raining in Black Sea ragion now.
• Anne will be playing tennis with her boyfriend at the moment.
• It is six o'clock. Jennifer won't be working now.
• It is very late. My father won't be listening to the radio now.
• It is very cold. They won't be playing in the garden now.

“The Future Continuous” gelecekte yapılacak olan eylemlerle ilgili bir varsayımı, tahmini dile getirmek için kullanılır:

• The political situation in Turkey will be getting better soon.

      (Yakında Türkiye’deki politik durum daha iyi olacak.)

Bu cümleyi şu şekilde de dile getirebiliriz:

• I expect that the political situation will get better soon.

• Linda won't be taking the examination next month.
• The children won't be getting up early tomorrow.
